Ashdown Park Hotel wins at Gatwick Diamond Business awards

Ashdown Park Hotel & Country Club, East Sussex, is delighted to have won the ‘Award for Developing People for Business Success’ award at the Gatwick Diamond Business Awards 2018.
The award, sponsored by Crawley College, was announced on 15 March along with other winners of the prestigious local business awards, at a celebration dinner.

Ashdown Park Hotel won the award for demonstrating commitment to supporting and growing individuals’ skills, and delivering successful training and development initiatives to underpin business objectives.

Judge of the Gatwick Diamond Awards, Julie Kapsalis of Crawley College, said “Training is at the heart and core of Ashdown Park Hotel & Country Club. They offer a career path for their staff that spans every department and skill set. The Group Managing Director himself embodies this passion - joining the company 30 years ago as a waiter and moving up the ladder and learning across every department.
“In a sector where retention rates can be challenging, this company is bucking the trend - securing huge loyalty and commitment from its staff to create the highest level of customer service. One particular apprentice, Jack, sealed the win for this company. His eloquence, passion, demeanour and personal story blew the judges away and they are convinced he will become the Group Financial Director one day.”

Ben Booker, general manager at Ashdown Park Hotel, said: “I am delighted that the hard work and commitment from the Personnel and Development team at Ashdown Park has been recognised. It is our people who offer such great hospitality that makes our hotel the success it is today, which underlines the value of developing and supporting individuals whilst encouraging them to achieve their full potential.

“Through the Personnel and Development team’s commitment to future employees, it’s fantastic to see so many eager young people join us for their week’s work experience, which I hope puts them on a stepping stone to a career within the very rewarding world of hospitality, which for too long has been overlooked as an industry you can aspire to be part of.”
