The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne has named public area cleaner Roberto Oliviera as its employee of the year for 2017, for going above and beyond to help his colleagues and guests throughout the year.
Roberto has been with the housekeeping department at The Grand for five years, and was nominated for the employee of the year award by head of housekeeping Yvonne Clingham, and presented with the award by general manager Jonathan Webley.
General manager Jonathan Webley said: “The Grand prides itself on excellent customer service and ensuring every guest’s stay exceeds expectations, and this would not be possible without the high calibre of staff in all departments. Roberto is a shining example of a member of staff who goes the extra mile to make the hotel a success.”
Yvonne Clingham, head of housekeeping, said: “Roberto is always striving to get jobs done and never says never, as he believes there are always ways to be able to get a job done no matter how hard it is. He also believes he can do any job better than a machine! I don’t think Roberto knows how hard he works and I am always telling him what a great worker he is, to which he replies that he is only doing his job. He is very worthy of this award as he is very polite, kind and hard-working and deserves to be recognised for all his contributions and dedication to this hotel.”
For receiving this award Roberto has won a two-night break in any Small Luxury Hotel, of which the entire Elite Hotels group including The Grand are members.
