Name: Stephanie Malvoisin
Job Title: Head Chef – Fine Dining
The Mirabelle Restaurant at The Grand Hotel has an excellent reputation for producing fine dining cuisine of the highest quality – reflected in its awards and accolades. Having recently undergone a full refurbishment encompassing both the restaurant and kitchens, we felt it was the right time to meet the lady at the helm!
Stephanie has been at The Grand Hotel for a year and felt that the opportunity to work for such a prestigious hotel was too good to pass up! Having trained in France and then moved to England and worked across hotels in the South East, Stephanie has developed her skills and those of her team within the Mirabelle Kitchen. Although there have been changes in staff – as is common in kitchens – the team have come a long way together and Stephanie has enjoyed developing their talents and involving them in the creation of new dishes – which is a particular passion.
This reflects the advice she would give to anyone wanting to work in hospitality: “Be passionate about what you want to do. Be patient and learn the right way”.
Whilst being a chef requires years of dedication and training, this can be reflected in the development and training given to staff at Elite hotels to enable them to fulfil their potential. From the induction courses, apprenticeships, supervisory academy and management training opportunities, there has never been a better time to explore the opportunities that Elite has to offer.
Stephanie felt that The Grand offered her a challenge and opportunity to develop her skills within a 5-star setting. She now describes working at the hotel as proud, professional and exciting!
