Emma Blakeman

Reception Manager at The Grand Hotel

Emma joined the Grand Hotel, Eastbourne in January 2008 as a Junior Receptionist after graduating from Sussex Downs College with a diploma in Travel and Tourism.

It was the diversity of the work environment and the daily interaction with people of all shapes and sizes that attracted her to a career in the hospitality industry.  Keen not to settle for a ‘nine to five job’, Emma finds the atmosphere of working at one of the country’s leading luxury hotels both exhilarating and exciting, with each day brining its own challenges and rewards. 

Emma’s enthusiasm, commitment and professionalism soon paid off as she embarked on her career in hospitality.  Within her first twelve months at the Grand Hotel Emma enjoyed two promotions taking her to the role of Senior Receptionist and also claimed the Employee of the Year award. 

General Manager, Jonathan Webley (pictured with Emma above) said at the time “The Grand Hotel has won many tourism industry awards over the years. All of these accolades are due to teamwork and the ongoing commitment of the members of staff, which is why we like to reward them with our own internal awards. Although Emma has worked at the hotel for a relatively short time she has made a big impression on guests and staff with her cheerful personality and efficiency and helpfulness on reception.”

Her continued dedication paid dividends once again in 2010 as she was promoted to Reception Manager.
